Does microneedling work?
It really does work, yes! For skin resurfacing and rejuvenation, microneedling works really well. It’s also called collagen induction therapy because it stimulates the body’s natural ability to produce collagen in the treated area. This collagen, along with elastin, helps to heal and renew the skin in the area.
A microneedling procedure is actually pretty simple and straightforward. To begin with, the procedure is only minimally invasive, using a tool with very fine needles on it. These tiny, harmless needles gently and slightly prick the skin to activate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin. These are protein elements in the body that help it heal, strengthen, and smoothen skin.
One of the many consequences of aging is that the body loses its ability to produce collagen and elastin easily, and this explains why we all experience the many esthetic signs of aging. However, microneedling helps to make up for this, and gives us back our youthful appearance!
Should I get microneedling treatment?
There are many different reasons why our patients get microneedling treatment done and why it’s so popular. Also, there are many different areas of the body where microneedling can help, including the face. Mostly, microneedling is done to effectively treat age spots, blemishes, fine lines, large pores, acne scarring, wrinkles, or discoloration on the face. Microneedling can even treat deeper wrinkles. Here’s another big reason why microneedling is so popular: it can work when other treatments just can’t work for a patient. Microneedling can work for a patient regardless of their skin type or skin tone, but some other treatments can’t.
There are lots of benefits of getting microneedling done. It’s virtually pain-free, there are very few possible side effects, the side effects are minor, there’s no downtime after the procedure, and there’s practically no risk to the patient. With all things considered, there’s a great chance that you’ll be a great candidate for treatment. And on top of all that, the treatment takes only 30 to 60 minutes! That’s pretty great considering the two biggest benefits of treatment: noticeably healthier and much younger looking skin!
What is microneedling with PRP?
To enhance the healing process with microneedling, injections of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) can be done. This PRP is extracted from a patient’s own blood and can accelerate the healing process significantly. We’re able to provide both standard microneedling and microneedling with PRP here at Glo Med Spa & Wellness Austin!
