Lactic Acid Chemical Peel

The lactic acid peel is an effective option for individuals who seek the skin enhancing properties of a chemical peel without irritation, discomfort or recovery time. It is the gentlest of the chemical peels and is ideal for clients with sensitive skin or rosacea.

What is lactic acid?

The primary ingredient used in a lactic acid comes from a milk product such as those present in yogurt, buttermilk, and sour cream. Lactic acid is naturally present in the body, which reduces the risk of irritation for those with hypersensitivities. The lactic acid chemical peel does not produce any discomfort when applied or require any downtime. We recommended this peel for first timers or clients with rosacea or vein enlargement in the face.

What is a lactic acid peel procedure like?

Like most of the skin procedures, a lactic acid chemical peel starts with cleansing of the face after which the peel will be applied to the skin. We carefully avoid sensitive areas of the face such as the eyes, nose, and mouth. The lactic acid chemical peel is left on the skin for 2 to 3 minutes at which time it removed with water. It is normal for clients to feel a slight tingling sensation after the peel is removed. The skin can initially be red but this will gradually disappear in a few days. We recommend that clients come in for subsequent treatments every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain the results.

Salicylic Acid Chemical Peel

What is a salicylic acid?

Salicylic acid is a Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA) that comes from willow bark and is also found is some fruits and vegetables. Salicylic acid component is one of the time-tested solutions for oily skin. A salicylic chemical peel is more effective and safe compared to home remedies made of the same active ingredient. It has a higher concentration, which is sufficient to safely peel the top layer of the skin surface and results in a healthier and smoother complexion. A salicylic peel works by breaking the bonds in between the skin cells, which allows the dead skin cells to be lifted and removed.

What is a salicylic chemical peel like?

The concentration of salicylic acid in our salicylic chemical peels in range from 10% to 30%. The salicylic peel solution will be gently applied to the skin and will be left to soak for a few minutes. It is normal for clients to feel a slight sting and itchy feeling, but will not feel any major discomfort for the duration of the treatment. Once the salicylic chemical peel has been neutralized, skin may appear red and shiny. Redness will dissipate over the next 3-5 days. Clients are advised during this time to be diligent with sunscreen for protection. It is also normal for the skin to peel of flake for about a week after the salicylic peel. This is a progressive treatment and should be repeated every 2 to 4 weeks to be able to see the maximum results.

What is Jessner chemical peel?

The Jessner peel is a combination peel that consists of salcylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol. It is a medium-depth peel that penetrates beyond the top layers of the skin. It is most commonly used to treat sun damage and skin discoloration. The Ultra Jessner chemicalpeel consists of the same ingredients as the Jessner chemical peel with an added Hydroquinone for hard to remove brown spots.

What is a Jessner peel treatment like?

The Jessner’s chemical peel is a relatively fast and simple treatment that can be completed over a lunch break or at any time during the day. The client’s face is prepared by being thoroughly cleansed. A solution that combines acetone and alcohol is then applied to the face. Next, the chemical peel is applied in a series of three coats. There may be some minor stinging as the chemicals are applied to the skin, but this only lasts a few minutes. Clients are encouraged to use a hand-held fan to cool their face and relieve any discomfort they may feel. The stinging is temporary, and is a sign that the chemical peel is working.

During the first few days following the treatment, the client will notice that their skin may be extremely dry, and begin to peel. They are encouraged to apply moisturizer and sunscreen to let the natural process of the peel take place.
